I just bought one. Same color, similar miles, similar price. I had an NA, and didn't like it. But the MSM is awesome. Love ot

They are overvalued in my opinion. I've never driven one but it's not difficult or expensive to turbo a stock Miata and from what I've read/heard Mazdaspeed Miatas are not perfect and still need little things to make them a lot better. Not saying they're bad but I think everyone selling one, including the one listed above, are overpriced. You could buy a similar stock NA/NB for significantly less and make it faster and you wouldn't care about racking up miles like people with low mileage rare Miatas are starting to do.

Wouldn't buy one, but everyone loves the normal version, and this is somehow more I would assume (power?) so how bad can it be?

Good Miata, but it could have been a lot better. No cruise control, big heavy 17s, turbo and injectors need to be upgraded if you want more power, and the 6-speed combined with a 4.30 (or was it 4.10?) rear really holds it back. However, a 3.66 rear and DYI wiring project using a NB cruise control module could really make this a decent daily turbo-Miata for auto-x and spirited drives.

Hmm, I'm on the fence with that SVT. On one hand, if the mods were installed properly and the car drives okay, then it's a good buy if you're into a heavily-modified SVT Focus. It's a very fun hot-hatch that doubles as a daily. On the other hand, a rebuilt motor, the tacky carbon fiber hood, faded paint, and that many miles does raise a few flags.

That's actually much better in my opinion, I don't trust low mileage cars anyways. Still I'd rather turbo a stock one than buy a Mazdaspeed Miata.

When you turbo a Miata you loose the essence of what the Miata is. It's a lightweight agile sports car with very little power. It's not supposed to be fast it's supposed to teach you how to drive quickly and maintain momentum. A turbo on a Miata is like a band-aid for a bad driver.

I had an NB2 and liked it, although I wasn't a fan of convertibles. If you want more power buy a 350Z.

Bah. That is all I have to say about your 350Z idea. 350Zs suck. Miatas don't. If you want a Miata with more power, add more power to a Miata. Don't replace it with a shittier car.

I had 15x8 949 Racing 6UL wheels on my NB. Then you can run 225/45-15 tires.

Yup, I ran 225/45-15 Hankook RS2s which are basically a street tire class autocross tire. They've since become the RS3 version 2. Very sticky. Those with some decent shocks, springs, sway bars and an alignment (Miatas are fully alignable from the factory, don't need camber kits etc) and you'll have a ridiculously good handling car.

You could always get an MSM, sell the stock wheels, and get some nice light 15x8s. The 949s are 11.6 lbs each.

Kinja'd!!!0

Yes it's heavier but it's not heavy. It's 3200 lbs with 305 hp or 10.45 lb/hp

MSM is 2540 lbs and 178 hp or 14.3 lb/hp

If you like small cars just get a regular NB. The MSM only has 36 more hp, but is twice the price (normally) of an NB. You're going to upgrade the turbo, injectors, intercooler, exhaust ect anyways if you buy an MSM. You might as well just build the NB better the first time and save a chunk of change.

I still think a Miata should be N/A but to each their own. Yes the MSM was fun when I drove it, but I felt my NB2 was more of what a Miata should be.

The MSM has many things that are awesome. Interior is great, engine is pretty nice, biggest brakes and most bracing of any Miata up to that point, factory Billsteins and stiffer springs make it a fun car.

HOWEVER it has a couple things that completely ruin it.

1. Drivetrain

The turbo engine has a much broader powerband and is much torquier than than the standard car, yet they shortened the gears with a 6-speed AND gave it a shorter final drive. You shift every 0.2 seconds in this car. Around town you'll find yourself starting in 2nd because 1st is too short, and just shifting 2 - 4 - 6 because the gearing is so bad. Fun fact: this car is gear limited to like 127 mph, banging off the limiter in 6th. Mazda should have given this car an uprated 5-speed to take advantage of the powerband from the turbo.

2. 17" wheels on a Miata make for a lot of rotating unsprung weight, and low-profile tires make for a very harsh ride. Swapping on some 16's or 15's with meaty rubber do this car a lot of good.

Kinja'd!!! wallaby13 > Sportwägen, Driver Of The Red Sportwagen

I think it's a little overpriced for an NB1. The accessories aren't exactly awesome either.

It's also up to you if you even want to modify a miata, and how much experience you have with modifying cars. MSM is by no means a bad choice, for the money I'd choose a different car. But the MSM does give you something to drive right away without needing time or money invested into turbo'ing another miata.

Those are only my opinions and you will have different outlooks.

I'm going to assume you are in houston based on the other ad.

http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/4656401076…

Notice the spec miata in the back ground? You might be able to work some go fast parts into the deal. Or at least a hard top. The LS is the 6 speed with LSD as well.
